How the Weekly CSA Works

Based on your subscription, we will pre-pack your weekly box for you and delivery it to your assigned pick up location. You will be responsible to pick it up within the assigned pick up times from your assigned pick up location.

Each csa is packed in a thermal bag. This bag is to be left at the site. This is done to improve product storage quality.  please transfer items to a reusable or paper bag.

Why are we not letting people take them home? in our experience it is very hard for people to remember to return the bags + when they are returned the state of cleanliness has been distressing. to keep costs low and to ensure food safety we are asking the bags not to leave the pick up site

How the Veggie CSA Works

Each week we pick our “farmers pick” of veg for the week and build a standard box for all our members. Then we send out an email with highlights from the week, what is in your box, what additional items are available for purchase and other information. At this time you are welcome to go into your store and edit your order for the week. This allows you to remove items that you do not want, and add in items you do.

Each weeks CSA has a value set $39.50. You can edit your weekly cart based on your weekly credits to have the items you would like. If you add items to equal over weekly set value then you will be required to provide a credit card, ( this happens each new season) to pay for the additional cost. Alternately if you have a positive balance on your account or unused credits, these will be used to pay for your additional items.

Note: charges will not be applied until the time and date of your box pick up. Ex. If you pick up Friday from 10-4, you will not be charged until Friday at 4pm even if you place the order on Monday.

What’s in the veggie CSA? Check out our harvest plan. This is all subject to change based on weather and growth but provides a rough outline of what we are planning

How Credits Work

When you subscribe to a CSA, the value of your subscription is dispersed in the value of credits each week. Each credit is a value of $1.

Each week, the value of that week’s subscriptions is applied to your account. You can choose to get the pre-filled selections or edit your order based on the value allocated for that week. Ex 10 credits ($10) for a weekly mushroom share.

The value of a weekly vegetable share will vary from week to week based on what is seasonally available.

When you put your CSA on hold, you will receive credits to be used at a future date. For this hold period credit will be applied to your account for held boxes.

Key points about credits:

  • If you put your CSA on hold for a week or more you will receive credits to your account for the value of the box that week. Credits are not applied until the hold date.
  • If you edit the box any given week and the final value of the cart is less than the value of the box that week, your credits ARE NOT carried over for use in the future
  • If you edit the box and the value is more than the set value of the box that week, then your credit card on file will be charged if you do not have a pre-existing positive balance
  • Credits/positive balances cannot be used to purchase additional subscriptions in the next season
  • Credits/ positive balances can be carried over from one season to the next within the same calendar year, but not year over year

The system is designed this way to support the fundamental concepts of what a CSA is and how it fluctuates with the season. We work hard to make sure that the dollar value associated with the food portion of the CSA is provided to you in full or more each season.

How to put your CSA on hold ( while away)

If you sign into your account, you have the option of putting your CSA on hold. In your My Account Page, there is an option on the right hand side for Delivery Hold. On smartphone this may be a tab or drop down option. You can select the date you are going away and when you will be returning. This will put all your subscriptions on hold for the time you are away. For this hold period, on the date(s) you would pick up your subscription, credit will be applied to your account for missed boxes. *Credits are not applied until this date*. These credits can then be used at a future date for additional purchases.

How to change pick up locations

If you are travelling to Sudbury or to the island and would like to change your pick up location, it is easy. Just select your pick-up location on the right hand side, or via the info tab on your smartphone and change the pick up location. NOTE you do need to change it back if you will be returning to your original pick up location. By changing the location, your subscription information will be transferred to all our team so they know you are picking up where.

Can’t pick-up your box?

We understand that life happens and things change. This is why we have chosen a software that offers flexibility and options to change pick-up locations or put boxes on hold. But if you are unable to pick up your box or are going to be late, we recommend that first your contact either Peggy or Eric to let them know. If we can make alternative arrangements we will. But if your box is not picked up it gets donated to one of our community partners the next day. We cannot provide credits or refunds for missed boxes as we have incurred all the costs to produce, harvest and transport the food and would suffer a double loss if we provided credits.
